Private singing lessons are wonderful, and there's no better way to get down to the nitty gritty of vocal technique, but there are some great things about singing in a group that private lessons just can't replicate. The energy and comraderie that comes from learning to sing in a group environment makes for an unbeatable experience.

Why Take Group Vocal Lessons?

• Singing with others is a great way to improve your child's own sense of pitch, especially in a multi-level class

• A group singing environment will teach your child to blend her voice

• Learning how to harmonize is much easier in a group environment

• Singing with other people is just fun!

• Having to keep time with other singers helps your child's sense of rhythm and timing

• Group singing lessons will allow students to perform in front of one another, allowing them to begin to combat stage fright before ever going on stage

• Group singing let's kids make friends with similar interests

Our Method

Our method is called Just Sing. Research shows that simply singing more leads to improvement. It's also well known in the vocal community that tension and stress impede singing ability by causing a singer's throat to tighten up, her breath to be constricted, and her ribcage to have trouble staying relaxed and open.

For these reasons, we strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere where kids can explore their voices without constantly worrying they're doing something wrong. Unfortunately, many vocal instructors are fear mongers, making their students feel that if they stray from one overly rigid set of instructions that they'll harm their voices. Even though most of these teachers have the best of intentions, they're unknowingly restricting their students' progress by inhibiting them, not encouraging them to "just sing."

The "Just Sing" philosophy is that there isn't just one right way to sing. There are many, many styles of singing and many, many correct ways to sing. That doesn't mean "anything goes," but it does mean there are a wide variety of techniques and methods to produce healthy beautiful music with the human voice. We'll teach your kids how to sing in a variety of styles, including pop, musical theatre, jazz, and classical, helping them to find what they're passionate about so that they can discover their own unique voice.

The 3 P ’s

We teach students the importance of the 3 P's: Passion, Play, and Persistence. All 3 are crucial aspects in learning to sing well.

PASSION

Everyone sings best when they're passionate about the music they're making. You can't underestimate the powerful role emotion plays in performance, and we want to foster the love of song that all people are born with.

PLAY

Approaching singing with a sense of playfulness will allow for exponential improvement. No one, neither your teacher, nor your parents, nor you, know what your voice is capable of until you've fearlessly played with different sounds to see what you can do. Don't be afraid of making mistakes.

PERSISTENCE

Persistence is one of the most important aspects of improvement at anything, not just singing. It doesn't matter if someone starts out with a better voice than you. If you work at singing for the next 10 years, and they stop after 3 months, you'll go much further with it.
