As a vocal coaching applicant, you should be someone who can read music, and who can provide accompaniment on piano or guitar. You have a repertoire of vocal exercises under your belt, and you know when to apply them and how to make corrections. We'll provide extra teacher training, but you should definitely have a vocal education behind you. You don't over-evangelize one genre over another, and you feel that R&B, pop, or rock has merits just like musical theater and classical voice. Being able to teach an instrument is a major plus.
for those applying to teach piano, guitar, or another instrument, you should not only be able to demonstrate competency, but you should also be able to clearly communicate that knowledge to a complete beginner.
We're big fans of teaching our students tools of the trade, so if you can coach audition preparation, performance technique, recording, or something related, we'd like to talk to you!
